James is currently a student studying a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Vibraphone at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. He was the first student accepted into the Queensland Conservatorium to study Jazz Vibraphone. Over the past year James has become under hi-demand as both a freelance soloist with various groups as well as directing and performing in several of his jazz groups ranging from duo to quintet. James has recently returned from a tour of the USA where he was accepted to study with several contemporary jazz icons such as Dave Samuels, Joe Locke and Ed Saindon at institutions such as Manhattan School of Music, New School of New York and the Berklee College of Music. James has also toured Australia and New Zealand to perform in ensembles, as a soloist or provide workshops/masterclasses. As well as being a competent performer, James is also a well respected percussion tutor around Brisbane being on staff with Loreto College, Coorparoo.
